I always used to think it took FOREVER for Christmas to get here when I was little. Now that I'm an adult, I feel like I blink and the holidays are over. We had a great Christmas, though. The kids are at a fun age and Cooper really got the whole Santa and presents thing this year. A few of the highlights from this holiday season were multiple trips to see Santa (Cooper is more than slightly obsessed with the Big Guy), playing in the snow, sledding, bowling, looking at Christmas lights, a few parties, a little shopping (I am not a fan of Christmas shopping or shopping in general), fun with family, and Cambelle graduating to a real bed (she LOVES it).
The stomach flu traveled through our house the week of Christmas and Cooper and I were lucky enough to be ridiculously sick all of Christmas Eve (when a three year old only gets out of bed to throw up in an entire 24 hour period, you know he's sick). Although we both felt beyond horrible, it was actually fun spending an entire day in my bed watching Christmas movies with Cooper. Ben and Cambelle followed through with our tradition of going up to Brigham to spend the evening with Ben's family. Cooper and I were so sad to miss out, but Ben and Cambelle had a blast. By morning Coop and I were feeling slightly better and were able to enjoy all the fun of Christmas morning. The kids were so excited to go down stairs and see that Santa had finally come! I have such a sweet husband who wrapped ALL of the presents and got the stockings ready on Christmas Eve by himself since I was in bed convinced I was dying. Thank you so much, Ben! Unfortunately, he then caught the bug Christmas day, but he handled being sick a whole lot better than I did.
Every time Cooper sat of Santa's lap this year he asked for "a pirate ship and Captain Hook." He was so excited to open his pirate ship and his other pirate loot and as he played with all of it later he announced, "Santa's a genius!" Both kids had a blast playing with (and fighting over) their presents. Ben and I had a moment of insanity and decided to go see a movie as a family. Cooper has seen movies in the theater a couple of times and he does great, but this was Cambelle's first time and there is good reason why we had never taken her before. Let's just say there was some yelling, lots of screaming, even more kicking, and even some loud tooting and Cambelle and I spent the last half of the movie in the hall. Despite all of that, it really was fun! Cambelle won't be going to another movie for a long time, though.
My mom was in town the last half of December and we she stayed with us the week of New Year's. The kids love "the new Gramma" (as Cooper has referred to her for the last 6 months) and were so excited to torment her and follow her non-stop the entire time she was here. She was even generous enough to insist (yes, I promise it was HER idea) that Ben and I go to a New Year's Eve get-together with our friends while she watched the kids. Thanks so much Mom! The night out was so nice!
Overall the holidays were so fun. I know everyone says this, but kids really make it so amazing!

We were so bummed out that you guys were sick over Christmas (but I'm sure not as bummed as you were.) We will have to get together again soon. How's Cambelle liking her new bed? Abbie just got her's and she doesn't reallize that she can get out of it on her own yet. She still calls and asks us to come and get her. It is slightly inconvenient but considering the alternative - I'll take it because I don't know how long it will last. Anyway, glad you are feeling better and hope to see you soon!
Glad to see your holidays were good...all but the sick part. I had fun looking at all the pictures! Your kids are so cute, and the stories you tell about them make them even cuter!
Hey, are you in touch with Kelly at all?! I heard that she is pregnant!
Since I am a pregnant mess, it made me want to cry that we missed all the fun of Christmas up there. The flu didn't scare me much, since I spent most of the month of December doing the same thing.
Dax and Coop are peas in a pod because Dakota has been calling different people geniuses. Not me of course but other people. :)
